S&W Giving Back
guiding
This season S&W Outfitters donated over $11,000 to groups such as Safari Club International, Big Hearts Under The Big Sky and Big Sky Community Corporation. Donating back to these groups helps people in need, supports our community, and provides funding to groups that help keep hunting alive. We feel very lucky to be involved in helping what we believe in by donating these trips.

Madison River Targeted For New Regulations
Madison
Its no secret the Madison River is one of the most popular rivers in Montana. Back in 2004 regulations for commercial use was discussed and applied to the outfitting industry. Once again the FWP is looking into new changes for the system to help over crowding and the Row vs. Wade controversy  not to mention the access issue and private land owners . In recent comments by head FWP officials they will not take in public comment in efforts not to confuse the process. Land owners, sportsmen and the outfitting industry will not be involved in the decision making of the rivers future regulations. Let the cards fall were they may with the data collected by the FWP. We will keep you posted on the out come.

Operation Never To Be Forgotten

JesseLast winter Big Sky hosted a banquet for soldiers who were wounded serving our country. Jesse Chadwick a native of Montana was the winner of a dream hunt sponsored by Big Hearts Under The Big Sky and the MOGA. Jesse's dream was to archery hunt from a back country camp setting. Fortunate for us, S&W was selected to help make his dream a reality. Having never been on  a horse, Jesse was all for the challenge. After a week in S&W's Corral Creek camp, Jesse is now an experienced rider and once again a successful archery elk hunter. Jesse's trip was a great success. He was excited to fill his freezer by taking a large mature cow from 30 yards. Thank you Jesse and Seth for your service to our country and for selecting us to be apart of helping your dream hunt come true.

Archery Season Rap Up 2011

JesseThis year produced several successful hunts and lots of good action for the guides and clients. Opening day we harvested two bulls for a legend start. The action continued through the rut with lots of encounters, a couple misses and a few coming to full draw. Bryce connected in the fourth week with a large and unique bull out of the East Fork Camp, and Jessy filled his freezer harvesting a mature cow the last week of the season. Four elk were harvested and looking for a fifth, with only a few days left to the season we expect Matt and his client to connect as the action is still hot as we suspected.  Also two bucks were taken by clients from the archery camp at East Fork. Another legend season passes, and won't be forgotten.

Fishing Tips For Your October Trips
BrownOctober is fall spawn for big Browns! Check out the Madison this time of year to hook up lots of big fish. If it's Browns you seek, Nymph them up in the deep holes with eggs and batis. Check out the Madison in Yellowstone National Park but be ready for lots of people. Also look at the Bakers Hole area outside the park all the way down to Hebgan near Sandy Point. Don't over look the run "Between the Lakes" to hook a fish of a life time. Remember to have fun and respect your fellow angler and land owner. Until next month, Tight Lines!
As always, thanks to all of you for your help and support. We are grateful to be a part of the outdoors and helping you to enjoy the wonders it has to offer.

Sincerely,

Brad Hanzel
