Change In The Weather
2011 showed some frustration in our permit system effecting both the non-resident hunting population and the residents of Montana. Many residents were effected by the new changes and took voice to find better answers to solve the problems faced by over crowding, private vs. public, access and the outfitting industry and private hunting. This year Fish, Wildlife, and Parks will conduct the bi-annual comment and public review across the state starting January 3rd. The FWP is aware of the many groups that have intrust in our hunting future, and the need for a biological management system. One decision that has effected many archery outfitters was the limited tags available in over 22 hunting districts and the Missouri River Breaks. FWP has a working group that has come up with some good plans to help manage these elk hunting areas and offer an additional unlimited permits that would allow all hunters to select the area they plan to hunt and be guaranteed to get the necessary permit needed. Also FWP will plan to reduce the cow elk numbers harvested in Southwestern Montana in hopes to increase numbers in the Madison herd. We urge you to support good management for all involved as we look for brighter days to come.

"Wolf Wars"

Hats off to the Montana FWP for bringing a management plan to help control a mess. The controversy of the grey wolf in the lower 48 has been a on going battle since the reintroduction in the early 90's. Now that we have the problem Montana has been very politically correct in getting a working management plan that seems to be excepted by most including the folks that put them here. Now the problem is actually meeting the quotas set in place. Some groups in Idaho and Montana are actually paying if successful, don't mistake this as a bounty. We see no reason 2012 fall season for the grey wolf won't be in place, and we plan to give you the client incentive to buy your license and harvest a wolf. If successful we will offer S&W Clients a $350 rebate on their hunt for legally harvesting a wolf. Buy a license and we put your name in a hat for a legend prize fit for your next hunt. We are seeing the best time to harvest a wolf is during your hunt for elk in Southwest Montana. Ask about details to hunt the grey wolf with S&W in 2012.
