"Got Wolf Hunt?"
Montana's Hunting Future
Archery Elk
Many things have been changing in Montana including the opportunity to hunt. With the passing of  I-161 you saw the squeaky wheel gets the grease. An estimated 16 million dollars will be lost due to the limited draw of our system this year. "Limitations are not based on Conservation concerns, as all the involved hunting districts are at or above the published population objectives" says Mac Minard executive director for the MOGA. See Article
Be aware of many new special interest groups that are very involved in Montana's hunting future. Like I said the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Get involved.

To us August means September is near,  that means archery and big bugling bulls, get ready. The summer is flying by with July now behind and plenty of fish from the Madison to the net. August will be gone before you know. Good news this month the Yellowstone  River will be fishing great as the upper river levels are reaching near 8000 cfs (that's the magic number), it's just days away from being right. Hebgan gulper season is here and the upper Madison is always a fun river with lots of hot fast rainbows and the legend German Brown, oh don't knock whitey becuse they will be there too. So will we, smilin' as always. Give a call to get on the river this August before its to late.

Preference Points For The Non-Resident
corral

We're all happy about this one. FWP has past the preference point rule in effect immediately. For the Non-resident hunter this is a huge way to be sure of getting a license for the 2012 season. The point will be available on line and will sell until September. The cost is $50 and will be able to be used for the next season drawing. If you plan to hunt Montana next year I recommend you buy this point now.

Big Sky's Local Legend
fish rfeleas

Southwest Montana is host to many outdoor activities and the fishing is big fun. I highly recommend a full or half day walk wade trip on the Gallatin River while your in the Big Sky area. This local legend is full of nice rainbow trout and brown trout, and this free stone beauty is fishing awesome. Another local Big Sky legend is "Super Dave" at East Slope Outdoors. Dave and his crew are all Big Sky locals and know the Gallatin River through out the canyon well. If you need a guide or just some information to get you hooked up, stop into Supers Orvis Endorsed full service Fly Shop. Next to the Hardware store near the Big Sky entrance.

S&W Donates to Big Sky
Kimberly

This July we donated to the Big Sky Community Corporation. This organization is responsible for many great recreation projects in the big sky area, including our trails and parks, the new baseball and soccer fields, skate park, and hopefully funding for the newly completed tennis courts. The winner is off to Helena, MT. to the "Land of the Giants" for two full days of catching big Rainbow Trout next spring. Each year S&W Outfitters donates to different organizations to help give back. SCI, RMEF, BSCC, Ducks Unlimited, MOGA, and Big Hearts under the Big Sky are some of the organizations we have helped.
